SUNDAY, JUNE 27, 2010

8:20 PM    Depart Boston’s Logan Airport on Lufthansa Flight # 425 bound for Munich, Germany. Dinner and snacks will be served on the flight.

MONDAY, JUNE 28, 2010       

ARRIVAL IN MUNICH/TRANSFER TO SALZBURG
9:30 AM    Arrival at the Munich Airport.  
Your Music Contact International Tour Manager will meet you in the arrivals area. Together, board your waiting motor coach and transfer to Salzburg (about 2 hours’ driving time).  
Upon arrival in Salzburg, store your luggage at the hotel (rooms will be ready in the early afternoon) and join your tour manager for an orientation walk around the Old Town to get a feel for Salzburg.  There will be an opportunity to exchange money and buy lunch. 
3:00 PM    Check in to your hotel and take some time to rest and refresh.

6:30 PM    Meet in the hotel lobby and walk to a nearby restaurant for a welcome dinner of local specialties.


TUESDAY,  JUNE 29, 2010       

SALZBURG//LUGE RIDE/CONCERT IN SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER
Enjoy breakfast in the hotel dining area.
9:00 AM    Meet your local guide for a guided walk of Salzburg.  You will see Salzburg Cathedral, the Collegiate Church, the house where Mozart was born and spent much of his childhood, and Getreidegasse, the city’s picturesque pedestrian shopping street with its countless courtyards and side passages.
12:30 PM    Transfer by motor coach to the nearby village of Hallein for a fantastic luge ride.
En route, you will pass by some sites you may recognize from the movie “Sound of Music”.
Afterwards, return to Salzburg and enjoy some free time for lunch.
3:30 PM    Meet at a pre-arranged location and transfer to a nearby senior citizen center.
4:00 PM    Perform a concert for the residents at Seniorenwohnanlage Aigen.
After the performance, enjoy some social time with the residents.
The evening is free for your own explorations.


WEDNESDAY, JUNE 30, 2010          

HOHENSALZBURG FORTRESS/SALZBURG CATHEDRAL
Enjoy breakfast in the hotel restaurant.
9:00 AM    Walk to the Old Town and embark on a funicular ride up to Hohensalzburg, the imposing medieval fortress that towers over Salzburg.  You will be able to see far beyond the city and take in a panoramic view of the Austrian and German Alps.    
11:30 PM    Return to the Old Town on foot or by funicular and meet up in front of Salzburg Cathedral.
12:30 AM     Perform a mid-day concert in Salzburg Cathedral for the other visitors.  
Afterwards, enjoy some free time to buy lunch at one of the many inviting restaurants or market stands nearby.
The rest of the afternoon is free to explore Salzburg in small groups.  You may wish to visit Mozart’s Birth House or the Residenz Palace, one of the most important historic building of Salzburg. This Baroque palace was the official residence of the Prince Archbishops of Salzburg and gives you a glimpse into the amazing wealth these rulers built for themselves and the city.
Optional dinner concert: Those who wish may book seats for the Mozart Dinner, a dinner concert with Mozart compositions performed live by costumed musicians between each course (€51 adults, €38 students).  Tickets need to be reserved at least one day in advance.  Your tour manager will be happy to make the reservations.


THURSDAY, JULY 1, 2010            

SALZBURG/MELK /VIENNA
Enjoy breakfast in the hotel dining area.
8:30 AM    Load the luggage onto the motor coach.
8:45 AM    Depart by motor coach for Melk and Vienna.  En route, stop in the small town of Mondsee to see the church where Maria’s wedding to Baron von Trapp took place in “The Sound of Music”.
12:00 PM    (approx.) Arrive in the lovely town of Melk and enjoy some free time for lunch.    
1:15 PM    Embark on a guided tour of Melk Abbey, a jewel of baroque architecture that is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site and has been declared one of the world’s top ten historic places to visit. You will see the Imperial Wing, where the Habsburgs stayed with their entourage when traveling, the Marble Hall, and the Abbey’s library.  Your tour will end in the resplendent Abbey Church.
2:15 PM    Perform a musical offering for the other visitors in the beautiful Melk Abbey Church.
2:45 PM    Board the motor coach again for the remaining journey to Vienna.

5:00 PM    Join your tour manager on an orientation walk through Vienna’s center to get a first glimpse of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Imperial Palace, and the lively scene on Kärntner Strasse and Graben, Vienna’s main pedestrian shopping streets.
There will be time to have dinner in small groups at one of the many restaurants downtown.
Meet your tour manager at a pre-arranged location and return to the hotel via subway.  


FRIDAY, JULY 2, 2010                          

VIENNA
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
9:00 AM    Meet your local guide and embark on a guided tour of Vienna’s highlights.  You will see the Ringstrasse with City Hall, Parliament, the State Opera, and the Art Histoyr and Natural History Museum, as well as Schönbrunn Palace, Belvedere Palace, the Hundertwasser House, and the UN buildings.   
12:00 PM    The city tour ends downtown.  There will be time to buy lunch in small groups.
2:00 PM    Meet at a pre-arranged location and transfer to a local senior citizen center for your afternoon concert.
3:00 PM    The Treble Chorus performs a concert for the residents of Pensionistenwohnheim Prater.  After the performance, there will be time to socialize with your audience.     
Afterwards, return to the hotel by motor coach.
6:00 PM    Meet in the hotel lobby and transfer together by subway to the city center.  There will be some free time to buy dinner.
7:20 PM    Meet at a pre-arranged location and walk over to the Palais Palffy, across from the Imperial Palace.  
8:00 PM    Attend a concert of Mozart and Strauss composition in Palais Palffy’s historic Figaro Hall.
9:30 PM    Afterwards, return to the hotel via subway.


SATURDAY, JULY  3, 2010            

VIENNA/MOZART HAUS/ CONCERT AT ST. PETER
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
9:30 AM    Transfer downtown via subway and enjoy a self-guided tour of the Mozart Haus, where Mozart lived for several years with his family and where “The Marriage of Figaro” was composed.
11:00 AM    Afterwards, walk together to the Imperial Palace to visit the Collection of Old Musical Instruments.
12:30 PM    Enjoy some free time for lunch.
1:30 PM    Meet at a pre-arranged location and walk over to St Peter’s Church to prepare for this afternoon’s concert.  
3:00 PM    Perform a concert for the public in St Peter’s church with its beautiful baroque interior and excellent acoustics.
4:00 PM    After the concert, enjoy some free time in the vicinity of the church.
5:00 PM    The Treble Chorus performs the music for the evening mass in St Peter’s Church.
After the performance, return to the hotel via subway.
This evening, you may wish to attend the free film festival in City Hall Park, which can be easily reached by subway.  


SUNDAY, JULY 4, 2010                

VIENNA COMMUNITY CHURCH
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
10:30 AM    Transfer to the Vienna Community Church, which serves Vienna’s international
congregation.
11:30 AM    The Treble Chorus performs the music for this morning’s service.
Afterwards, perform a short concert for the congregation and enjoy some time to socialize with members of the congregation.
The afternoon is free for your own remaining explorations in small groups.  You may wish to visit the House of Music, a hands-on, interactive music museum that is sure to inspire musicians of all ages!  (admission €8.50 for students)
7:00 PM    Gather together in a local restaurant for a festive farewell dinner.


MONDAY, JULY 5, 2010                

RETURN TO NORTH AMERICA
9:30 AM    After breakfast at the hotel, check out and transfer to the Munich Airport for your flight home.
1:00 PM    Lufthansa Flight # 3555 departs for Munich.
2:00 PM    Arrive in Munich and walk to the gate for your connecting flight.
3:55 PM    Lufthansa Flight # 424 departs for Boston.
6:25 PM    Arrive at Boston’s Logan Airport.  Welcome home!
