Season Orientation
Each year, the season begins with the required Season Orientation. The Treble Chorus of New England, creates an exciting and fun starting program for our children who love to sing and perform. There are two different workshops:
Season Orientation 2011*:
Season Orientation is a week of singing, learning and making great friends. Each day, students enjoy getting to know their fellow singers during break (snack provided) and lunch, and also while they participate in various classes.
• Sight singing and ear training
• Performance Deportment
• Diction in English & foreign language
• Small and large ensemble
• Group vocal technique training
• Music theory

This summer's orientation will be held the following days:
- Monday-Thursday (Aug.15-18) 8:45-2:15pm at West Parish Church in Andover
- Friday (Aug.19) 8:45-noon at Rogers Center for the Arts in North Andover
- Performance: Friday (Aug.19) 6:30pm at Rogers Center for the Arts in North Andover
OPERA WORKSHOP*:
Opera Workshop is an additional commitment for choristers. After working on opera scenes for ten days, the singers’ musical capabilities immediately develop along with their relationships with one another and the opera staff. The opera will be performed during the concert season, and is the basis of our annual outreach Education Concert, performed each March for schoolchildren in the greater Merrimack Valley.
Opera Workshop is an additional commitment for choristers. The children learn music/lyrics from a selected opera, while making their own costumes and designing and building their own sets and stage decorations. The Summer Opera Workshop is an additional program to be taken with the Singers workshop. It can not be taken without the singers workshop.
- Thursday, Friday, Saturday (Aug. 11,12,13) 8:45-3:30pm at the West Parish Church in Andover.
- Monday-Thursday (Aug.15-18) 2:30-4pm at the West Parish Church in Andover
- Friday (Aug.19) 12:30-2:30 at the Rogers Center for the Arts in North Andover
- Performance: Friday (Aug.19) 6:30pm at Rogers Center for the Arts in North Andover
The children learn music/lyrics from a selected opera, while making their own costumes and designing and building their own sets and stage decorations. The Summer Opera Workshop is an additional program to be taken with the Singers workshop. It can not be taken without the singers workshop.
Both workshops end in a magnificent concert Showcase, where family members and friends are invited to see the fine deportment of the choristers, and an impressive memorized repertoire they have mastered in just one week.
